Stephanie Murphy

Stephanie is a proud Florida native and has called the Suncoast home for over 20 years. She graduated from Converse College, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, before obtaining her Juris Doctor degree in 2001 from Stetson University College of Law. Since beginning her legal career, Stephanie has been actively involved in the Florida family law community, focusing her practice on a broad spectrum of cases ranging from uncontested dissolutions to complex divorce and paternity matters, including highly contested equitable distribution and financial issues, alimony and spousal support, parenting plans, and child support, as well as enforcement and modification cases, prenuptial agreements, and relative adoptions.

In 2021, Stephanie was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a family law mediator. Since then, she has enjoyed her role as a mediator, helping Florida families and attorneys achieve peaceful resolutions for their contested family law matters. With over 2 decades of experience as a family law litigator, Stephanie is perfectly positioned to navigate the complex dynamics involved in separation, divorce, and co-parenting cases.

Outside of her mediation and family law practice, Stephanie has been very involved in the legal community and the Suncoast area as a whole, serving in various roles for the Kiwanis Club of Sarasota, the governing board for Sarasota Academy of the Arts, the Sarasota County Bar Association’s Family Law Section, the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, and the Florida Supreme Court Mediator Qualifications Discipline and Review Board. She has been honored to serve as a speaker for various continuing education programs, including presenting topics such as the “Grey Divorce,” as well as the impact of immigration issues on family law cases. Stephanie has also been a guest on several major network news shows, such as Dateline, 20/20, and 48 Hours, as well as various other news outlets, including Court TV.
